The DMG, Danjir Media Group is an award-winning multimedia production company that delivers quality and meaningful media content that leaves a lasting impression.  We aim to bring dynamic stories to life and exceed customer expectations. We’ve been in the business for twenty years and have established a strong foundation of mutual trust with our customers in the U.S., and Canada.

History:

DMG was founded in 2004 in Ohio, U.S. when Basra Mohamed and other talented community activists discovered a need for diverse media in the city and began publishing an eight-page monthly newspaper called Danjirnews.  The newspaper grew from 8 to 16 pages and two to thousands of copies in a few months. In 2007 the group established the Danjir radio, the first African community radio in Columbus, Ohio. The Danjir Show was introduced with its health, news stories, education, and entertainment topics. The show airs weekly on 98.3, 92.7 WCRSFM, and streams online.  In addition to the newspaper and the radio, the DMG company opened a high-end studio for TV and video production services in 2010. It produced programs for Danjir Media TV, and other international TV channels such as Somali Channel TV, Kasan TV, and SomTV. 

The DMG team was commended for its commitment to community building and was awarded multiple times. The founder of DMG company Basra Mohamed received a presidential award from Hon. Sharif Sh. Ahmed, president of Somalia. She also received awards from community organizations, such as an achievement award from Women Coming Together and a Community Partnership Award from GCAC. Mainstream newspapers such as The Columbus Dispatch and Call & Post also covered DMG’s achievements.
